Junior Achievement Project Spotlight

A/V and Security Infrastructure System Upgrade

Junior Achievement is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preparing students for future success through hands-on, real-world learning experiences. Their facilities are intentionally designed to immerse students in simulated workplace environments, supported by technology that enables safe, engaging, and flexible programming for staff, volunteers, and students.

MTG has partnered with Junior Achievement for more than five years. The relationship began through a referral from a mutual managed IT service partner to MTG. Junior Achievement was seeking a new vendor to provide audio/visual support to address ongoing reliability issues with existing systems. What started as a service engagement quickly grew into a trusted partnership built on responsiveness, technical know-how, and a shared commitment to creating positive experiences for the people using the space.

The Challenge

As Junior Achievement’s programs and facility needs evolved, their existing security infrastructure became increasingly challenging to manage. The organization was operating multiple, disconnected platforms for intrusion, access control, and video surveillance.

These challenges included:

  • Managing several systems across different applications - Limited ability to monitor and control systems remotely
  • Aging infrastructure and inconsistent wiring from prior installations
  • High expectations for aesthetics in a student-facing environment with open ceilings and visible architectural elements

Junior Achievement needed a security solution that was reliable, easy to use, and appropriate for their organization’s size—without adding unnecessary complexity.

MTG’s Approach

MTG collaborated closely with Junior Achievement to design a unified security solution centered on simplicity, usability, and long-term reliability. After evaluating the organization’s needs, the team recommended consolidating intrusion, access control, and video surveillance onto a single Alarm.com platform.

MTG’s approach focused on:

  • Unifying all security systems into one intuitive interface
  • Enabling mobile and remote access for easier day-to-day management
  • Selecting a platform that matched the scale of the facility without overengineering
  • Reusing existing infrastructure where possible while correcting legacy wiring issues

During installation, special care was taken to protect the visual integrity of the space. The MTG field team prioritized clean cable routing, consistent use of white cabling, and thoughtful device placement to ensure the technology blended seamlessly into the environment.

Outcome

Junior Achievement now operates a streamlined, easy-to-manage security system that supports both daily operations and long-term growth. Staff can monitor and manage systems remotely, receive clear and actionable notifications, and rely on consistent performance across all security functions.

The unified platform reduced complexity, improved usability, and delivered peace of mind, allowing the Junior Achievement team to stay focused on its mission of educating and inspiring students.

Ongoing Partnership

Throughout the project, collaboration with Junior Achievement’s team was smooth and productive. Clear communication and responsiveness on both sides helped keep the project moving forward and ensured expectations were met.

The project further strengthened a long-standing partnership and continues to expand as MTG supports additional upgrades and new learning spaces currently under development.
