Data Cabling and AV Systems Design
MTG shines with complete solution for buildout with tight timeline.
Lumidata provides business intelligence SOLYS software to consumer goods companies and retail teams. The timeline to complete the build-out of their new Minneapolis, MN office was extremely tight. Just eight weeks to complete construction, including data cabling and AV systems.
PREVENTING DOWNTIME WAS A PRIORITY
Vice President LISA GEER’S plate was already full. The added task of overseeing the project was “overwhelming.” “There were multiple needs to address. The design alone was consuming. There were decisions to make about colors, finishes, furniture. It was very important to complete the move with minimal disruption to business operations. We provide technical support to clients, so preventing downtime was a big priority.”
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR DATA CABLING AND AV SYSTEMS
The general contractor, Gardner Builders, and IT service provider, Warner Connect, both suggested Geer call MTG for help with the data cabling and AV systems.
"They showed me lots of options and were flexible in redoing pricing."
The dual referral gave Geer confidence that MTG would be able to complete the project quickly and efficiently. “They had obviously used MTG as a resource before. The bids were reasonable and very detailed. They showed me lots of options and were flexible in redoing pricing.”
Geer met with MTG to discuss the details of the project. “We were starting from scratch. So we needed data cabling for VOIP phone system, high-speed internet connectivity, and also transfer equipment throughout the space. We wanted monitors in both conference rooms, the lobby, and a couple of private offices.”
GOOD IDEAS FOR USING OLDER EQUIPMENT
“They had good ideas for reusing some of our older AV equipment in lower priority spaces. I felt they had a very strong grasp on our budget and what our needs would be for demoing software to clients and prospects. And they knew when I needed to be educated and when I didn’t.”
MTG recommendations included a single-zone of sound masking to enhance privacy in open office areas. The large conference room was outfitted with a 70-inch high-definition LED monitor with connectivity for HDMI and data. An installed PC was connected to the monitor and cabling was neatly hidden in the conference room table.
"I would say they did an excellent job and made my life easier."
In addition to selection and installation of equipment in offices and conference rooms, MTG worked with Geer to plan the layout and install data cabling for technology throughout the space. This made it easy for guests and staff to connect to monitors for meetings and training sessions.
NO DOWNTIME, NO GLITCHES
“Once we had a furniture plan, there were iterative meetings to finalize which walls would have ports and to eliminate redundancies. It was obvious they knew what they were doing.”
According to Geer, work was completed on time, everything was tested and fully functional before moving day and the company had zero downtime. “I would say they did an excellent job, and they made my job easier. I can’t think of any real glitches.”
